Face the Wind

                                       Dreamlike limbs of a willow
                                       cascading.

Struck by miles of air
I, motionless in the motion.

A chime like echo travels
disipating.

The shaker sounds circulating
Sift through the tangles.

The willow tree has always fascinated me, the sway and dangle of the branches. Over the past few years I have experienced a lot, as anyone does when time passes. I keep telling myself to face the wind, let it come, but I am not going anywhere.

  1. I like this a lot.
Funny, a willow tree figures very prominently in what I'm working on right now (inspired by the willow in our old yard).

  2. Great word painting. It brought to mind the willow tree that was in our yard when I was young. Thank you.

  3. Lovely audio associations, but my favourite line is: "I motionless in the motion." Beautiful poem, Bet.
