Alone and brittle
the last leaf to fall
a tumbling tempo
a breakable ball.
Winter memories
replaced with blooms
puddles pinked
by sunset hues.
Summer sand
a stinging splash
long days to come
storms will pass.
Life sings a song
seasons hum
my heart beats
earth's rhythmic drum.
Today I am double linking...Slice of Life and dVerse open link night.
This poem finally came together today. It has been played with for weeks, months maybe and was never quite right. A poem is never really done, but it felt complete today.
There is a rhythm indeed, with us and the seasons dancing in time together!
ReplyDeleteI love the last stanza -- it could be a poem on its own, really! Brilliant! :)

ReplyDeletethere is def music to the world and a rhythm that when you find it, makes life all the more....its in the seasons, in the waves of the ocean, in the birth and life all around us...smiles.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Betsy! I love the last two stanzas...the rhythm of the whole poem...it feels good.
ReplyDeletepuddles pinked by sunset hues...can't wait to get there...up to MI to see our wonderful sunsets across the water...thank you for this beautiful song xo
ReplyDeleteOooh, I loved reading this Betsy. The spring storms passing can be more a metaphor for better times to come too.
ReplyDeleteAnd you've captured that rhythm in the flow and rhyme of your poem, Betsy. I enjoyed this so much. It felt light-hearted.
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful words you put together to make this poem reminds me of the ebb and flow of life...even though we sometimes experience the storms, there is hope again for the moments of beauty! Thank you for sharing this!
